Dirty Whipped Russian

After my successful banana bread venture last weekend, I decided to continue down the road of quarantine trends and tackle that whipped coffee everyone is making on tik tok. Let’s not waste any time or characters- it’s gross. But do not fret! If you’ve already ventured to the store, mask in tow, to purchase instant coffee- your efforts were not in vain. I give you, the dirty whipped russian! (Is it bad I’m slightly turned on by that name? Is this quarantine finally getting to me? Are you laughing at the thought I’m just now thinking I’m losing it? Ok, moving on..) I absolutely love white russians, mainly because I love any excuse to drink Kahlua. Add that weird whipped coffee to the top and it oddly makes the perfect cocktail, suitable for a solo weekend brunch (or anytime really, I’m not one to judge). Let’s be honest here. I know you are going to make that whipped coffee. I know you are going to post it to Instagram. Why not make something delicious that will also get you tipsy? It is quarantine season after all.

Dirty Whipped Russian

2 ounces vodka

2 ounces Kahlua

2 ounces milk (you can you cream, alternative milk, etc.)

2 tablespoons instant coffee

2 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons hot water

Combine instant coffee, sugar, and hot water into a bowl. Whip using a whisk or electric mixer until it becomes light in color and thick like a mousse. I used my handheld immersion blender with the whisk attachment, it only took a minute for the mixture to become thick and frothy. Meanwhile, pour equal parts vodka, Kahlua, and milk into a shaker with ice. Strain into your glass of choice. Top the vodka drink with the whipped coffee, snap a pic, and enjoy! (Full disclosure: for aesthetic purposes, I made a double. You bought that, right?)
